It’s true… I still like Oreo’s.

I have been and still am learning so much about the power of nutrition in regards to preventing disease and illness and yet… I still like Oreo’s.

I’ve been on this journey for awhile and I have to be honest. It hasn’t been easy. And I know I must not be alone!

What is important is that we are moderate about the “bad” stuff we put in our bodies. Sometimes my “moderate” comes dangerously close to the “excessive” line, but all the while I am aware of what’s going on.

So, all this to say… I am on a journey of wellness, filling my body with the proper nutrition to help it function properly and on occasion I eat Oreo’s!

When I first heard about creating a vision board, I wasn’t so sure about it.  Somehow it seemed a bit self-indulgent and me-focused.  Something as a Christian, I strive NOT to be (most of the time, not successfully, I have to add. ).  It simply just felt wrong to me to think, visualize and meditate on things I wanted.

The key word here is “things”.

Let me explain…

I decided to give it a go more out of curiosity than anything…  I mean it had been a while since I had scrapbooked so pulling out the markers, scissors, glue, etc… strangely gave me a fond sense of nostalgia of a time when I was more “crafty” and younger!  Anything that brings me back to my younger days is a good thing, right?

So I pulled out several magazines from my over-flowing ‘I’m-going-to-recycle-those-someday’ pile and began scouring the pages.  At first, I noticed nice expensive cars and even a very sizeable diamond ring that admittedly I cut out it’s picture and glued it to my page.

I then began to notice words that almost seemed to call out to me – that resonated with me.

Then images of people doing activities that also seemed to strike a chord with my heart strings.  And then images of people I admire…

So I cut, cut, cut away… then glued and glued some more.

When this flurry of craftiness was over, I couldn’t believe the clarity I had about who I am and more importantly who God is calling me to be.  It wasn’t just about “things”.

This activity for me was about connecting with God, my creator, and getting to know the person I am meant to me.

So this video is my relating a desire of my heart that became clear to me in this exercise and how it manifested!

So I wasn’t compelled to learn more right away.  But was then moved to investigate a bit further and was most definitely taken in by this webinar recording regarding The Next Gluten.

Call me a newbie… or maybe even a reluctant diet revolutionary (reluctant because I still am enticed by not-good-for-you foods like Oreos and yes, Halloween candy!), but I really feel a leaf beginning to turn for me in this vein.

You know how you feel when you’ve discovered something really special and you feel COMPELLED to share it?  I’m not talking “wanting” to share, but actually COMPELLED to do so… This has been my experience thus far.

Are we glorifying God by realizing our dreams?

If there is only one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s that life is just too short to let it pass you by. We’ve all been put here for a purpose… ultimately to glorify our God!

And what does that really look like anyway? Glorifying God? Huh?

Think about it…

God showed us His perfect love through Jesus Christ His son and even expresses to us in his beautiful love letter, the Bible, that the most important commandment after loving Him is to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR.

What this means to me is simply living our lives full of love for others, offering them value… thus Glorifying the One who made us.

God has blessed each and every one of us with special gifts and skills and more importantly… DREAMS… to do just this… in our families & careers.

Sometimes we have gotten so bogged down in our “day-to-day” that we honestly have NO idea what it is we really want or desire, or what those gifts are that we’ve been given.

It’s sad but oh so true.

Perhaps we THINK we know what we want based on what we THINK we are SUPPOSED to want – from a worldly perspective.

“Aren’t we supposed to want riches and money and…fame?” No… not necessarily!

I challenge you today to dig deep and really question what are the things that when you think of them… your heart begins to quicken and you feel an certain “electricity” of hope… this is when you’re on to something! Something quite special…

These are the things, I believe, God Himself placed deep within you and thus will give you the power to achieve.

He is just itching to give us the desires of our hearts… the desires He gave us.

Caution… this is not a “prosperity gospel” message. This is simply a message regarding being true to who you are, who God made you to be, and what your GENUINE desires are!
