Voice and Performance Story

Let your light shine through song… that’s my philosophy!

It is a mission of mine to encourage, develop and nurture my students’ musical talents and equip them with the technical and artistic tools it takes to expressively & healthily communicate their art in performance, worship or for their own personal enjoyment.

I work with students from 6 to 106 years old!  Well, that’s not entirely true.  I have never worked with anyone 106 years old… but I’m sure you get my drift.

I am very passionate about singing and it’s specialness.  For some, it’s a talent they must share with others… for others, it’s something they’ve always wanted to do but haven’t felt confident ‘putting it out there.’  No matter where you are in the spectrum, I tailor your lesson to fit your needs – having fun the entire time.

I strongly believe in the power of music and performance to help foster a positive self-image and confidence.

I also believe that it is very important for any singer to not just sound beautiful technically, but to come from a very genuine, authentic place when singing a lyric.  It is my mission to help my students find that genuine place…  a lot of times, it boils down to finding the style that suits the student best… the style that makes their “heart sing” so to speak.

***My home studio is located in the Green Mountain area of Lakewood, CO.
How Did I Know I Wanted To Be A Voice Teacher?

I specifically remember the time I came to my own private lesson when I was 15 years old.  My dear teacher and I had a conversation regarding what I may want to do as a career.  Without hesitation I told her that I wanted to do what she does!

The fact was, I had some rough family issues going on at the time with my father being very ill and my siblings rebelling like crazy.  My voice lessons were a chance for me to get a way from all of the madness at home and do something magical.  My voice teacher was always, and still is, such a wonderful listener.

I laugh now, but at the time… I was a mess.  I remember working on the song “Send In The Clowns…” from  A Little Night Music and it seemed every time I opened my mouth to sing, tears would come.  My poor teacher!!!!

I love teaching very much and especially enjoy guiding my students through their process of reaching toward their potential… and will always have teaching singing and performance in my life no matter what.
